To address the issue of pharmacy deserts in Milwaukee, pharmacist Hashim Zaibak founded Hayat Pharmacy in 2011 to ensure quality health care access for diverse communities in and around the inner city. Today, Hayat Pharmacy locally owns and operates 19 community pharmacies and dispensing centers in Southeast Wisconsin, and a full-service Long-Term Care Pharmacy serving communities across the state.
The number one goal of Hayat is to make healthcare accessible for all, including free prescription delivery, medication packaging, in-home visits and care, and more—all backed by a diverse workforce that speaks more than 20 languages.

- Hayat Pharmacy was awarded the 2024 Wisconsin Pharmacy Quality Collaborative (WPQC) Engagement Award. It honors pharmacists and practices who have been engaged in multiple facets of WPQC, a network of accredited pharmacies throughout Wisconsin that are committed to higher standards of medication management, patient education, quality assurance and patient safety.
- Hayat Pharmacy was honored to receive the Association of Affiliated Pharmacies and Apothecaries (AAPA)’s “Innovative Pharmacy of the Year” award in 2023.
- Hayat Pharmacy was named Health Mart Pharmacy of the Year in 2014 and 2021. The designation is awarded to top-performing pharmacies for superior clinical performance, high-touch patient relationships and proactive advocacy efforts among more than 5,000 Health Mart pharmacies nationally. Recognized as Pharmacy of the Year in 2014, Hayat is the award’s first-ever repeat winner.
